Heatstroke in pets: signs and first aid

Heatstroke is an emergency that can become life-threatening within minutes.

Signs

  • Heavy panting and a bright red tongue
  • Drooling and weakness
  • Vomiting or diarrhoea
  • Stumbling or collapse

What to do right away

  1. Move your pet to a cool, shaded place.
  2. Wet the body with lukewarm (not ice-cold) water.
  3. Offer small amounts of water.
  4. Call the hospital immediately — we are open 24/7.
